Green Day started as punk went to more pop punk and now I would say are just a rock band. Black Flag is a very good choice. I also like Social Distortion a lot.

I don't really like punk bands, but of what i have to choose from i would have to go with bowling for soup or simple plan.

Early Blink is still pop punk.
